Explanation

since a certain merchant, they say, sailed his ship loaded with salt; the sailors having fallen asleep, the sea broke in, dissolved the salt, and sank the ship.

Explanation

ἐπειδὴ τὶς, ὡς φασὶν, ἔμπορος ἔπλει τὴν ναῦν ἁλῶν πληρώσας· ἀποκαθευδησάντων δὲ τῶν ναυτῶν ἐπειςελθοῦσα ἡ θάλασσα τούς τε ἅλας ἐξέτηξε καὶ τὴν ναῦν κατεπόντισεν.
