Proverb
The eyes of Atreus
Explanation
as it were, unturning and harsh. Said from the lawless deed of Atreus, who, suspecting on a slander that his brother Thyestes was committing adultery with his wife Aerope, chopped up Thyestes' children, boiled them, and served them to their father at dinner — making him aware of his calamity by setting before him last the extremities.
