Proverb

The Phrygian, rather

Explanation

Croesus, they say, having gathered the wise men, asked which they thought the most fortunate man. Each naming someone different, Aesop the Phrygian, the fable-maker, said that Croesus surpassed the others as much as the sea surpasses the rivers. Croesus, hearing this, said: "The Phrygian, rather!"

Greek

Proverb

Explanation
