Proverb

A quail saved sturdy Heracles

Explanation

this is in none of the ancients. It is said of those saved beyond hope. Eudoxus says that the Tyrian Heracles was destroyed by Typhon, and Iolaus, doing all he could to bring back Heracles, burnt alive a quail (in which Heracles had taken delight); and from the smoke Heracles came back to life.
