Proverb
At Aphannae
Explanation
the Sybarites were asking the god for victory over the Crotoniates, those Crotoniates being present. One of the Crotoniates mockingly said that they would obtain it "at Aphannae"; and they marvelled at the god's prediction. The proverb is said of things thought unsubstantial.
