Explanation

simpleton and fool. They used "Coroebus" of the foolish, from a certain Coroebus the simpleton, whom they think to be the son of Mygdon the Phrygian, born about the time of the Trojan war. Some say he was so dull that he counted the waves of the sea.

Κοροίβου ἠλιθιώτερος

Explanation

εὐήθης καὶ μωρός. Ἐπὶ γὰρ τοῦ μωραίνοντος ἔταττον τὸν Κόροιβον ἀπό τινος Κοροίβου μωροῦ, ὃν οἴονται τὸν Μύγδονος εἶναι παῖδα τοῦ Φρυγὸς, κατὰ τὰ Τρωϊκὰ γενόμενον. Τινὲς δὲ τοῦτον ἀναίσθητον φασὶ γεγονέναι, ὡς καὶ τὰ κύματα τῆς θαλάσσης ἀριθμεῖν.
