Explanation

this is from Sophocles' Locrian Ajax; but Plato says the iambic line is from Euripides. There is no wonder: poets fall into the same expressions.

τοῦτο Σοφοκλέους ἐστὶν ἐξ Αἴαντος τοῦ Λοκροῦ· Πλάτων δὲ Εὐριπίδου φησὶν εἶναι τὸ ἰαμβεῖον. Καὶ οὐδὲν θαυμαστόν· συμπίπτουσι γὰρ ἀλλήλοις οἱ ποιηταί.
