Out of doors, you Carians, the Anthesteria are over!

Explanation

some say it is said because of the multitude of Carian slaves, who at the Anthesteria feasted and did no work. When the festival was completed, sending them off to their tasks they would say, "Out of doors, you Carians, the Anthesteria are no more!" But others give the proverb thus: that the Carians once held part of Attica, and whenever the Athenians celebrated the Anthesteria they shared the libations with them and received them in the city and in their houses. After the festival, when some Carians remained behind in Athens, those who met them said in jest, "Out of doors, you Carians, the Anthesteria are over!"
