proverb of those undertaking to loose what is hard to loose. For an oracle had been delivered to the Phrygians concerning the wagon that brought Midas, that whoever loosed its knot would rule Asia. Alexander loosed it.

παροιμία ἐπὶ τῶν δύςλυτόν τι λύειν ἐπιχειρούντων. Λόγιον γὰρ τοῖς Φρυξὶν ἐκπεπτώκει περὶ τῆς κομισάσης τὸν Μίδαν ἁμάξης, εἴ τις ἐπιλύσειε τὸν δεσμὸν, τοῦτον τῆς Ἀσίας ἄρξειν. ἈλέξανΚάμπιος δρόμος: δρος δὲ ἔλυσεν.
